5 Proven Steps To Get Your First Order On Fiverr
Want to start a career selling your services on Fiverr, but don’t know where to start? Here are 5 easy steps to help you start your first sale on Fiverr.
Find the right service
Take the time to research popular content on Fiverr and find the market segment that suits you best. In general, design work and content writing are very popular. But find something you enjoy doing. For example, if you’re not good at designing, don’t choose to provide it even if the service is popular.
The rule of thumb is that since each show starts at $5 on Fiverr, the time to complete a show should not exceed 15 minutes. However long it takes, it’s not worth it.
Best time to release the show
Fiverr provides visibility opportunities for new sellers by setting up a “new seller” section for most categories. So when you post your show for the first time, you will be listed there for a few hours or days. This is your best chance to get your first customer.
Therefore, think about when buyers need your services. For example, if your target customer is a business (such as copywriting, network analytics, etc.), it’s best to publish your performance on weekdays. Likewise, if your target customers are consumers who may want portraits, the weekend may be a better time.
Choose the right image and copy for your show
Unlike Facebook, there are no text restrictions on your show’s featured images. So stay creative. Add eye-catching text to promote your service. Think about how you stand out from thousands of other competitors. Maybe show some of your previous works to make buyers more convinced.
Many established sellers on Fiverr do not offer standard shows with a 24-hour delivery schedule. By default, most will take at least a few days. If you want to speed up the delivery, you have to pay extra. Since you are a newcomer (I assume you have time), you can provide a 24 hour lead time for your gig, just to get things going
Create multiple shows
This is the first-hand experience I can share. I started posting just one show on Fiverr and got no response for a year. Then recently I decided to revisit Fiverr and put on some similar shows. In short, the more you perform, the more likely others will see you. And since you can keep releasing the show for free, there’s no loss other than the time it takes. (It should only be a few minutes)
I put out a total of 4 to 5 shows, but didn’t immediately get sales. It took me about 3 months to get the first sale. Before that I had some questions, but no result. The more performances, the better. Try to take about 10 photos and then change the description, title, tags, etc. to get the best exposure.
Your first sale on Fiverr
Once you get your first order, it should slowly start to snowball. In short, you should now be able to get follow-up sales faster. My second sale happened about 3 weeks later and now I sell every week.
In general, if you provide high-quality works, buyers will be happy to give you good reviews and positive reviews. This will be of great help to your follow-up sales. If you don’t get anything, don’t ask shyly.
While it’s not publicly available on Fiverr, I’m pretty sure that factors like “response time to answer questions,” “order delivery on time,” “ratings and reviews,” and other factors play a significant role in your visibility to buyers.
If you have money left. Ask someone to hire you and then post positive reviews and comments. While this is not the right approach, it speeds up the time it takes to get the first order. Once this happens, you should be fine on your own.
